DescriptionDoubly excited since my last CAF post because:1) The Cubs won the World Series! For the first time in 108 years. And down 1-3 in the series. And game 7 went into extra innings. A really wild ride and they came out on top – finally! 2) Ryan Stegman’s back on Spider-Man! Those who’ve perused my gallery know I’m a big fan of Ryan’s, particularly his Spider related stuff. Cover-wise I’ve picked up some Scarlet Spider pieces but not one with Spidey himself...til now! Got Pete, MJ, and...Annie Parker?! This is from the follow up to the initial ASM: Renew Your Vows limited series. It’s an alternate universe where Pete and MJ stayed married and had a kid. This first issue just came out yesterday so go check it out! A fun story not hampered by what’s going on in 616 so Gerry Conway and Ryan can really let loose and I think it shows. Now on to the art. First, gotta love all that background webbing - Ryan doesn’t skimp on that. Comes from the Todd McFarlane school in that regard. Second, just a great Spidey image. Nice pose and I like that tonal work on the blue parts of the costume. When it’s all said and done I think Ryan’s going to go down as one of the best to have worked on my fave character. Third, this is the first published image of MJ and Annie in their new costumes designed for the series – just cool to know. Lastly is that great front-and-center MJ shot! I really dig her costume, particularly the white areas and that the webbing is white vs. black. A cool design element I don’t think I’ve seen before. Lookin’ ready to get to it! Move over, Pete ;) Included the published image for y'all to see. David Curiel did a super job on the coloring. I like the overall lighting and also how the red parts of Spidey's costume have different hues, almost like a tile effect. Not sure it technically makes sense but hey, it looks cool! Thanks, Ryan and Paolo, for letting me pick this up. Great starting image for what I think will be an equally great run. And thanks for looking, folks! Social/Sharing |

Wow! Great piece! I love all the intricate webbing in the background. The legs behind Spiderman's arms also look like additional spider legs. Very cool cover!

Hey, thanks, man! The Spidey family! What an image to start a book out. And yes, always a bonus, and FUN, seeing a piece used more than just for the initial intended :)
