DescriptionLast of 3 Black Panther (BP) posts today and I’m stoked about this one! Went to a smaller con (Dallas Comic Show) a couple of weeks back not expecting too much, in terms of art anyway, but was happily surprised when I saw this up for grabs! Phil Jimenez had a couple small stacks of art, most being Superwoman pages and X-O Manowar covers, but in the middle of one of the piles was this beauty – I jumped at it. Phil on BP and Storm and a cover?! No brainer.Lots going on with this piece. Love all of the images bordering the central characters…a young T’Challa and Ororo, Wakanda, Man-Ape, Ramonda, etc. Has a collage-y feel, kind of like a movie poster. I like when artists use the whole board on covers and Phil definitely did that here. Of course the featured image is BP and Storm. Awesome illustration for sure, and do they look regal, especially Storm. Definitely a queenly look to her and you’ve got BP backing her up with a “best not mess with us” stance. Him holding the Ebony Blade the way he is has a lot to do with it, too, I think ;) I was a fan of the BP/Storm union so wasn’t happy to see that end, but hey, got some great art out of it! That's just incredible! I wish it was the cover to a BP trade paperback or a poster or something! Damn. Every time I look at your collection, I think " I need a Black Panther commission!"

You're right, Phil is really a pro at cover composition. He's done so many great montage'y, movie poster feel, covers...like this one! And you're right about Ororo here - definitely one of my reasons for getting it! Thanks!

Absolutely beautiful. There isn't a square inch in here that Phil didn't capitalize on. Congrats this is a treasure of a get.
