DescriptionRight before the 2019 Baltimore Comic-Con, I contacted Rick Leonardi about getting a pre-done commission for the convention. My favorite work of his is the great battle between Storm and Cyclops in Uncanny X-Men #201 for control of the team. I asked Rick to do a commission of Scott and Ororo in the Danger Room. I never heard back from him and figured he was too busy for my commission. At the Baltimore Comic-Con, I swung by Rick’s table to ask him when I could get on his commission list. As soon as I mentioned my name, Rick grinned and pulled out this 11 x 17 beauty. He said he had gotten my email, did the commission at home, and then lost my email address so he couldn’t get in touch with me. He hoped that I would be at Baltimore so I could get the commission from him. Although I did not ask for it, he did a recreation of the famous cover to #201. I have to say I prefer this drawing to the original cover. Rick has gotten better and better over the last 30 years. Getting this piece so unexpectedly made my weekend. Social/Sharing |

Big congrats on this! Old vs. new as only Leonardi can bring! He's got such a strong organic quality to his work!

Thank you, my friend. "Organic" is a great way to describe Rick's work; it has a natural flow that few artists can imitate.
