Description

Absolutely stunning Indiana Jones cover by the great Drew Struzan, for the 4th Bantam book �Indiana Jones and the Genesis Deluge� (1991). I�ve been a huge fan of Indy, ever since I watched the first movie in the early/mid 1980�s, but until a few years back (Thanks to fellow CAF buddy RF 😊) I was not aware of who had painted the great movie poster images. As (almost) all the official Struzan Indy movie poster artwork resides in George Lucas collection, this left one of the Indiana Jones Bantam book covers as the next best alternative (Drew did 12 of these between 1991 and 1996)�again thanks to RF 😁🙏🏽�
Drew only hand-painted the logo on the first 4 books (he was asked to discontinue this, because of international publications), I�m glad he did as I think that it really adds something special to the piece�the ones among you that are familiar with Drew�s work will not be surprised that the piece is huge!!! The artboard measures 102cm x 76cm, with the artwork for front-/backcover taking up a whooping 70cm x 52cm�

The paint dabbing wrinkling effect is so good here. It gives that ancient artifact look to compliment the linework as if one layer has been removed by time to reveal the image as we see it here.

This is GORGEOUS!! Way cooler closeup than any scans have ever done justice. It has that great scratchiness in the hat textures just like the Temple of Doom poster! Awesome piece!!!
