Description

This cover to Batman & Robin 11 is outstanding. The cover itself is a callback to issue 1. You wouldn't know to see the cover printed since the production department tilted it and colored it with giant question marks in the bg in ben day dots. Whatever. On the printed cover all the detail dropped out, so I'm reproducing as large as I can here, to show the intricacy Quitely put into the drawing. Different textures for the coat, the hat, the slacks. The notches on the shovel and the lace-up boots. One of the best and most finished B&R covers I've seen outside of the initial 3. A nice addition to my collection. Thanks to Joe at Britcomicsart.com for making it happen.

Fantastic! Love how clearly the pencils come through in the scan. His work on the clothing is phenomenal. Amazing detail.

So few examples of Quitely B&R out there (thanks a lot Chip Kidd!), to have one as great as this, and a cover to boot, is special. Thanks for sharing the quality scan! Congrats!

The tilt is to get the shovel straight to align it underneath the Bat symbol logo like a handle of an umbrella. Editors should have let Quitely's pencils go to print direct without colors as it would make a bigger statement and been a bolder presentation.
