DescriptionAs the auction of chapter 8 of The Life and Times of Scrooge approached, I reread the story several times. I estimated that I could only afford to purchase one or two pages of my liking so I needed to carefully decide which page I'd attempt to obtain. This was the page that I eventually fell in love with the most. To me, it contains everything I could hope for in a page by Don Rosa: Klondike Scrooge, Soapy, Dawson, White Agony Creek, humor, intrigue, depth... I love how Scrooge eg. connects with his home and family in his thoughts.What's more, this page contains, in my opinion, the best panels with Goldie in Lo$ – she only appears briefly in four story pages in the original saga. Here she is also depicted in her full garb while exchanging classic lines with Scrooge and Soapy. As I weighed which page I'd treasure the most I made a similar realization as Scrooge: my heart went with Goldie. ;) ---------- The original lettering has been printed on a piece of clear 1 mm polystyrene plastic with the speech bubbles thus "floating" 2 mm on top of the page. Todd Klein always lettered Don Rosa's art on vellum overlays so the OA is without lettering. I experimented with several techniques and overlay materials to reach the best optical and protective result. There is, for example, an extra sheet of 99% UV-protective conservation glass layered on top of the plastic. I'm not sure if this method of displaying original comic art with "floating speech bubbles" has been used before so I may have been a pioneer in this endeavor. Congratulations on this wonderful page, my favourite from the eighth chapter ...and there's Goldie and Soapy too...what more could you want? Great page!!!
