DescriptionLadies Week continues with this beautiful and intriguing cover by Jenny Frison. This piece was my introduction to the amazing Jenny Frison. Of course Wonder Woman is lovely here, but I was especially drawn to the Chimera (a lion with a goat's head in the middle of its back and with a tail that ends in a snake's head.) I also love the backgrounds and use of perspective! They seem to be inside some kind of cathedral with columns and vaulted ceilings and recesses and just all kinds of cool architecture. This piece came with a prelimary board of Frison’s original pencils (see add'l pic) as well as the finished board where all the textures and intricate details were flushed out with her distinctive colored pencils and copic inks. Wow! It's just ethereal in every possible way, and I'm totally psyched to add it to my collection. Social/Sharing |

I must say, I love lions and mountain goats are also cool. Have you ever seen them fight? I've always loved pieces done on colored, textured paper and wish artists in comics would work on it more often. But the best part of this cover is that Wonder Woman is doing a wheelie on her Chimera!

Great upshot! It takes the image to a full grand presentation in the classical setting!

WOW. So cool to compare the pencils to the inks - both of them are very beautiful. The backgrounds look to me like a beautifully restored local theater here in town, and I didn't realize that part of my brain was struggling to piece together that story ("What on earth is she doing -there-?!?") until I read your mention of a coliseum in your description, and had to laugh at myself. Oh, yeah. That's probably right. :) (although it -would- be a crowd-pleaser and spread a lot of joy to have Wonder Woman travel from venue to venue as part of her tamed Chimera traveling show...). Really beautiful piece, Paul! Congrats on the great pick up!

Love these WW pieces that weave in Greek mythology! Love that juxtaposition of beautiful, and strong, maiden, atop a true monster in the Chimera! Grey art board as a backdrop adds a uniqueness, too. Congrats, Paul!
