Description

(Acrylic on Rives BFK - 14.5" x 22") My friends probably know how much I've gone on and on about getting a Fables cover by Mr. Jean. After almost 15 years of being out of comic collecting an illustration by James (for Prada) caught my eye on the net about 15 months ago, and after many clicks I had fallen i love with his art. So I fundamentally blame him for this art obsession I now have (oh and I blame Geof Darrow too!) I always wanted a painted piece by James, I had held off on getting a pencil piece in vain hope for ages. I acquired this primarily as fine art, so it is a bonus that it is a Fables cover from his esteemed run! Thanks Court! And to the sniper who nearly got this, ouch that hurt! =)

You deserve this beautiful piece of work, Peter. In mu humble opinion, Jean is as good as it gets - and I'm not just speaking about the world of comic art collecting This is fine art that just happens to be published on a comic book cover. Congrats!

I had an opportunity to see this piece in-person while it was still on jj's drawing table. It's a beauty. Did you know that they wanted jj to paint that goofy hat with the silly eyes that Ambrose wore as a janitor, but jj suggested this instead? What an improvement. Congratulations!
