DescriptionThis is by no means the most impressive page in this historic book, but it is a real thrill to finally be able to acquire a page from this book.Social/Sharing |

There is really something that need to be said about this page? You have in your hands a real treasure, and I am sure you know it already. Always amazing to see how easily Kirby was able to convey to the young readers gigantic storylines and incredible situations - this is a great example of the purest magic of comics, that unsurprisingly still resonates after decades through movies, videogames, pop modern culture. The 3rd panel with the different lettering of the signature is great. Congrats, pal, and pls be sure to preserve this beauty safe and sound, for future generations.

Even at this stage of his career, where the larger world - and history - was really beginning to take notice of his considerable abilities, he was really showing an unmistakable signature style, wasn't he...? I'm speaking of Magneto, of course (who did you -think- I meant? 😜 ). I not only applaud how direct and strident his message was ("SURRENDER THE BASE OR I'LL TAKE IT BY FORCE!"), but I sincerely appreciate the flash he invested in it as well (like the apostrophe in "I'll"... or softening the blow a bit by signing it with a sweet little cursive "Magneto". Now THAT'S style!!)
In all seriousness, though, this page contains the fourth and fifth time Magneto ever appeared on a comic book page. What a titanic piece - one of many forming the foundation of your absolutely EPIC collection! Sincere congrats, CAB! What a piece!!

Many thanks as always, Jason, for taking the time and trouble to comment in such a detailed fashion on this piece.

If I leave a nice comment, or write you a nice letter, will you cut out a panel and post it to me? It seemed to work with Hal Foster, for early collectors.

Alas, Peter, I am not an artist like Foster who creates such pieces but a (literally) poor collector who managed (with the greatest of effort) to obtain it when it was still possible to do so!
