DescriptionThis large drawing was the cover of my first collaboration with Al Williamson. I was penciling the issue when I met Al, as a guest of Brent Anderson who took me along on a visit to Al's studio. Al was excited by the the story and asked if he could ink it. I believe I was 23 at the time—and flabbergasted by his interest and enthusiasm. Back at Marvel in New York Hulk editor Carl Potts was kind enough to oblige the last-minute change of plans and this job became beginning of a long series of team-ups with Al on various projects.I remember choosing to draw this image at twice-up size to give Al plenty of room to work his magic—and make a more impressive original. The beauty and verve of his pen and brush mastery makes this piece one of my prized possessions. Social/Sharing |

Amazing. These issues came out during my introduction to the Hulk. Some of my favorite issues. Great piece. Lovely inks, fantastic anatomy.

Seeing this brings back fond memories of a time when comics were more special (probably because i was 10 or so) loved the characters that helped the HULK in these issues!
