Description

I had never seen this piece by Wrightson before it appeared in Daniel Best's CAF Gallery. It appears to have been drawn around the time that Berni was developing his Booth-like style for FRANKENSTEIN. The piece is subject-wise akin to Wrightson's Revoltin' Rhymes, and it demonstrates his fabulous black humour in both the title of the drawing and in Berni's nickname for himself as the artist of the drawing. The "Alan" to whom the art was inscribed was Alan Kupperberg (1953-2015). The art is just over 5 3/4" x 10" and appears to have been cut from a larger artboard -- possibly it was itended for a larger work like a comic story splash page. It shows some signs of age in discoloration along the left-hand side and bottom of the drawing, but is still a lovely example of Wrightson's work. Purchased from Daniel Best in June 2012.
