DescriptionThis is my favorite piece in my collection. The Gotham arc in 51-53 ended with an epic finish. Abby and Alec reunited at last, only to be torn apart again with Swamp Thing's apparent death. After this issue, the series slipped into a more sci-fi focus, which was still great, but didn't carry the same impact as the horror issues. This last page to 53 is such a great shot of Batman holding Abby in front of the remains of Swamp Thing, with Commissioner Gordon, Bullock, Chester and virtually all the other supporting characters looking on in astonishment. This piece is framed, thus the poor-quality pic, which doesn't do the actual piece justice.Social/Sharing |

Simply beautiful art by Totleben. I still don't think he gets an ounce of respect that he deserves. Great art!

I bought this page from John Totleben in 1987 for $225 and sold it on eBay in 1999 for $1000. Probably should have kept it. If you ever want to sell, let me know and it can come home.
