Decades ago, a top-secrete program code-named Weapon-X was formed to create the ultimate soldiers: Mutants gifted with a healing factor that enabled them to withstand even the most deadly opposition. These combat-trained agents were able to handle the toughest missions. Survive the most grueling tortures, and keep on fighting until the task was completed. This Team X would exist past the boundaries of laws and government--Doing a job too bloody and brutal for official military forces. After parting ways, these men would be destined to lead very different lives from one another. Logan would come to be known as Wolverine and atone for his past by casting his lot with the underground mutant group known as the X-Men. Creed would continue his life of killing as the hired mercenary called Sabretooth. North, sometimes called Maverick and John Wraith fell even deeper into the shadow world of covert intelligence. All of them would at one time or another become reluctant allies, bitter enemies, and-at the very least- worthy opponents. But for one brief dark time, the agents produced by the Weapon X program were teamed together to form the elite fighting force known only as Team X. Team 7 is a covert strike force sponsored by a mysterious government agency called IO. Headed by the cold-hearted Mikes Craven and his somewhat more conscience-driven assistant Gabriel. The team is sent on missions that help Craven get even closer to his goal of achieving immortality. Team 7 believes they serve their government, and are not aware of Craven's personal agenda. Composed of some of the most skilled agents from the various armed forces, Team 7 is able to tackle missions in any time of environment. An accident orchestrated by Craven gave the team members powers that are mutating into what forms even they do not comprehend. After discovering that Craven's ultimate agenda was to exploit their children- the heirs of the enigmatic and dangerous Gen-Factor- the members of the original Team 7 went their separate ways. Chang's present whereabouts are unknown. Cash took on the guise of the nomadic gunman called Grifter. The ghosts of Gray's past would continue to haunt him and drive him to become the soldier of fortune Deatblow. Lynch would try to guide a renegade group of orphans with the Gen-Factor named GEN13. The new Team 7 which Dane would lead would be transformed into the strikeforce called Wetworks.
