CORBELLA FERDINANDO

(1916-1996) Born in Milan, Ferdinando Corbella got his artistic education in Brera. At the age of 15, he was already illustrating postcards and assisting the painter Fontana in the realization of advertising billboards. Three years later, he joined the animation studios Million Film, where he worked with Vittorio and Carlo Cossio and contributed to the film 'La Rosa di Bagdad'. From 1948, Corbella worked for La Vispa Teresa, for which he illustrated covers and comics like 'La formula 37'. He also made stories with 'Cucciolo' for Caregaro, and 'Biancaneve' for Mondadori. Between 1949 and 1953 he worked for publisher Gianni De Simoni on comics series like 'Piccola Freccia' (with scriptwriter Dalmasso) and 'Tigre Bianca'. In 1950, he began a collaboration with the publishing house Universo, working on the series 'Roland Eagle' (in Intrepido), 'Narciso Putiferio' (in Monello), 'Rick Provvidenza' (in Albi dell'Intrepido) and 'Commissario Grasset'. He additionally worked for the British and French markets. In 1965, he produced three episodes of 'Diabolik'. (Milano,21-10-1915) Lavora nel campo del disegno animato, collaborando prima con i fratelli Cossio e poi, dal 1933 al 1943, con la IMA pubblicità, per alcuni anni lavorerà nella stessa agenzia con Averardo Ciriello di qualche anno più giovane. Lavora, fra gli altri, al lungometraggio "La Rosa di Bagdad" di Gian Luigi Domeneghini. Tra il 1945 e il 1948 collabora con gli editori Rizzoli, Carroccio e Vitagliano con una serie di fumetti rosa. Dal 1948 al 1950 lavora per l'editore Gianni De Simoni alla realizzazione di PICCOLA FRECCIA e TIGRE BIANCA. Nel 1950 incomincia una lunga collaborazione con la Casa editrice Universo; in più di ventisei anni realizza numerose storie per l' Intrepido, Il Monello e gli Albi dell'Intrepido, disegnando, fra gli altri, tre importanti personaggi: ROLAND EAGLE, NARCISO PUTIFERIO, RICK PROVVIDENZA, IL COMMISSARIO GRASSET. Si cimenta nei più disparati generi ed è in grado di imitare alla perfezione gli stili di alcuni collaboratori della Universo che non riescono a reggere il ritmo di produzione (BILLY BIS; ARES; JIMMY JET; FORZA JOHN etc). Pur lavorando in esclusiva per la Universo, produce anche per i mercati francese e inglese. Disegna tre episodi di DIABOLlK e realizza alcune storie per il periodico Full; disegna inoltre una rivisitazione del personaggio di Roland Eagle dal titolo VON LUCKNER l' Ultimo Corsaro, pubblicato da Sole Editore su Jumbo Pocket.
