Before the Pussycats, before Valerie, Josie had a different smart-alecky best friend and her name was Pepper. Here she is in all her geek-girl glory. I'm actually surprised they don't bring her back. She's a perfect candidate for hipster status. Anyway, once I was introduced to the pre-Pussycats Josie comics, I realized how much better they were than the Pussycat-era stuff. And there's no better poster child for the early Josie *Jones* than Pepper. This is why she's the subject of my second commission series (after Nanny Dickering).
