FRANCO-BELGIAN
"The arts are what makes life worth living. You’ve got food, you’ve got shelter, yeah. But the things that make you laugh, make you cry, make you connect, make you love are communicated through the arts. They aren’t extras." — President Barack Obama
Franco-Belgian comics are comics that are created for a Belgian and French audience. These countries have a long tradition in comics and comic books, where they are known as BDs, an abbreviation of bandes dessinées (literally drawn strips) in French.
In this gallery, you'll find artwork from comics created for the Franco-Belgian market as well as tributes, illustrations, and commissions, to the Franco-Belgian comics that have achieved international fame, such as The Adventures of Tintin, Asterix etc.
