Moloch (Hector Colomb)
Alphonse Hector Colomb dit Moloch («H.Colomb», lu à l’envers = «B.Moloch»), 1849–1909, célèbre illustrateur et caricaturiste, a dessiné dans de très nombreux périodiques satiriques. Moloch fut avec Steinlen le principal dessinateur du ‘Chambard socialiste’ dont il a exécuté la plupart des illustrations de couvertures. Il travailla pour les journaux illustrés: La Chronique Amusante, La Fronde, L’Éclipse, Le Grelot, Le Pêle-mêle. Il collabora aussi à L’Assiette au Beurre, Le Rire, et le Trombinoscope.
That’s not only incredibly well drawn, it’s also very very funny, intelligent, and subversive. One of the greatest geniuses of early comic art, completely forgotten today.

Les planches de Moloch sont bien rares sur le marché. Ces planches proviennent d’une partie de la succession de Jean Morisot (1899–1967), qui était chirurgien dentiste à Paris. Il côtoyait et collectionnait des artistes, les oeuvres d’art. Connu sous l’éloquent pseudonyme de Jean de Sauteval, il était aussi graveur, aquafortiste, et produisait d’excellents ex-libris et ex-eroticis (ça mérite largement le coup d’oeil).
