Hunter--Warren Publications (Eerie)

Hunter was a great original character in one of the first Eerie magazines I bought off the newsstands back in 1973. He was called the "Demon-Hunter" when in fact he was hunting mutants who were taking over the world. He was a half-breed; his human mother was raped by one of the mutants and hence spawned him. I still remember the graphic page in his origin story (second story in the original series). Hunter pages, done by Paul Neary are quite rare to the market. I've only occasionally seen a scant few pages from the later series available from time to time. Yet, in my humble opinion, they are a far cry from the original five tales (in writing as well as artwork). I've always wondered if I'd ever see (let alone own) any pages from the original story(s). Then, one day on CAF, a seller overseas who was friendly with the artist had access to all five original stories. They were priced quite high for the time---but I managed to get a decent deal for the first two stories. Only regret was that I didn't take all five!!!!!
