Mandrake the Magician was the brainchild of Lee Falk, a creative powerhouse who also created The Phantom! Falk conceived Mandrake as a suave and intelligent magician who could use his hypnotic abilities and illusions to combat crime. Started in 1934, his success in it's infancy established the request from King Features Syndicate for Lee Falk to create another characterm and The Phantom was born 2 years later in 1936.
