Kelly, Walt - Artwork Published in the "Pogo Puce Stamp Catalog"

The pieces in this gallery all appeared in "The Pogo Puce Stamp Catalog" which was published in 1963. I remember my Mother saving S&H Green Stamps when I was a kid back in the 1960's. We would get the S& H Green Stamps when we purchased items at certain gas stations and grocery stores and you would have to save a crazy amount of the stamps to redeem them for anything remotely worthwhile. Walt Kelly devoted several months of the Pogo newspaper daily strip to parodying the S&H Green Stamp craze and in the same storyline he also included a scathing political parody of Khrushchev and Castro during the Cold War period. The Pogo Puce Stamp catalog contained a good number of terrific short stories and illustrations with S&H parodies that did not appear in the daily strips and I have been fortunate to collect several of these pieces.
