Five time Eisner winner, James Jean was never a comic book artist, he was an artist who contributed to the comicbook medium. His early work was focused on commercial endeavors as creating the cover art for Fables and creating illustrations for we’ll known companies as Prada, Playboy, Men's Health, Spin, Atlantic Records, The New Yorker and ESPN. JJ was one of the best things happening to comic cover work with his cover work for Fables one of the reasons for the titles success and is considered some of the most refreshing images ever to grace this four color medium we call our hobby. With each succesive project he pushed and stretched his creative boundaries. Although he’s moved on from month to month cover work, his personal and commercial work continues to delight, confound and always engage the senses.
