WIERINGO MIKE

Today we learn Mike's passed away over the weekend.Mike’s art, I realize, is one I really took for granted in retrospect. One of those hyper talented and dependable artists you expect and enjoy to read every month. He was one of those artists who could pull an interpretation of any character that would always end up being terrific. And it would be immediately recognizable as his work. This takes talent. His art also radiated with joy and fun which is a blessing among today’s dark and violence oriented production. It made me feel like I knew him and like I met the gentle man everyone describes him to be. His art really told us a lot about the human being behind it.And he also must be credited for visually reinventing the Flash and for popularizing the animated (and I do not mean manga) art we see everywhere nowadays. His storytelling was so fluid and clear it was nearly out of this world. He made it look so easy... Mike, you will be dearly missed and know that you leave a splendid body of work (his various Spidey,Tellos,Flash,FF,Superman,well anything he touched are favorites) for us to enjoy for years to come.
