PART 1:
This project began when I was fortunate enough to purchase a piece done by Bernie Wrightson. It's a piece he did in 1998 for a JLA Annual cover. So when I saw it for sale and I was in a position to pick it up, I jumped all over it. (NOTE: For a while I unsure whether the piece was a prelim or only done in pencil before being colored. It was done in pencil and because Bernie's prelims are amazing, my untrained eye couldn't tell. But after getting the opportunity to meet him at a convention, I learned it was a prelim. I did ask if he would be willing to ink it. He replied, "I already did that once and I prefer not to do things twice." Hmmmm...fair enough!PART 2:
I have seen a some sites and projects where a common work in pencil was given to different inkers. It blows me away to see how different inkers apply their style to a common image. As a long time fan and collector, it's fascinating to see and learn about the various styles and skills.PART 3:
With this Wrightson pencil piece, what better foundation to use for my own version of an interesting look at how artists apply their craft. And I welcome your inker suggestions if you have a favorite inker and I'll try to explore their availability.LAST POINT: I have posted side-by-side artist comparisons as extra images for each inker. So after viewing the Wrightson-Inker image, be sure to also take a look at the additional images at the bottom of each to see some INKER-to-INKER comparisons.
