DescriptionWhat a treat it was to have the opportunity to work with Joe on this. I have been a fan of SO MUCH of his work over the years. For anyone interested, I would HIGHLY encourage you to contact him and explore a commission. His schedule keeps him very busy so don't be in a hurry for your piece...but it is SO worth it.I asked Joe to describe the process he used to create this version of the page. "I blue line printed the art because no matter how faithfully I trace a piece there's always an unavoidable loose of subtleties that blue line takes care of. My aim is always to be faithful to the spirit of the art and not change anything if at all possible. I've been a major fan of Bernie's even before the Swamp Thing days so the difficulty is to keep the spirit and confidence of Bernie's pencil line(translated to ink) without tracing the work." I have had many pieces inked by both of these masters of the trade. (Mcleod and Rubenstein) In doing side by side comparisons, I noticed many subtlties in differences, but I have to say after really looking them over I have say I admire the Rubenstein inked piece the most. Jay seems similar to Bob in his smoothness, and Joe left some grittiness in areas that work better for the piece. Joe truly is one of the modern masters. Congratulations on a great concept!

Congratulations on a great concept! Thanks for the comments, Larry. I honestly don't think I could pick a favorite. They all bring a different focus to the piece. The one thing that most surprised me is how amazingly great these three guys were to "work with". They were friendly, patient, and VERY easy to communicate with. All three are great guys and great artists!
