My favorite lunch box ever! If you ever want to let this go, please let me know...
The twisting mass of bodies has a beautiful balance but with a horrific clawing chaos trembling underneath. Quite amazing.
I love how the architecture gets more and more fantastical and distorted. Those columns...
So glad you finally posted these!! They are both amazing but this is my favorite ;)
I bought this directly from the inker, traded it to Neil (when he made me an offer I couldn't refuse) and then on to you. It is a minor thing, but I always felt that the third panel pulls too far out. I am guessing that Mike wanted a cascade of decreasing sized heads circling the second panel. But if he had made the third panel head the same size as the larger head in the first panel, it would have felt more balanced, like a conversation was going on between the guys. Regardless, it is an amazing page and that wolf's head is just so memorable!! You picked up a great one!
Amazing! So much effort to blend Russian Constructivism w deco n Corbusian architecture.
Great first Redondo page. It is awesome to see him draw the same face four times, each completely recognizible yet distinct. Let me know if you find a better Redondo and want to let this one go.
Redondo's take on a robot is fluid and eerie. Give me a shout if you ever decide to part with it.
Still my favorite page of yours (although the aztec one is damn sweet). I have finally given up hope of sweet talking you out of it and am now planning on getting it from your widowed wife eventually. ;) By the way, does this tea taste like almonds?
I love the play and tension between the picture frames and the panel edges. And always fun to study Duncan's pencils vs inks. Great pick!
Thanks for making this deal so easy and fun! I can't wait to see your grail Mignola!!
Wow! I really love the haunting atmosphere. Please let me know if you ever decide to let it go...
She was gone before I could even say goodbye... Congrats on a great page!
Great page! Eric, I agree, that close up of the eyes is what sells it for me. Well, that and the next panel :)
From the first time I saw this almost ten years ago, it has made me laugh out loud. Even more amazing is that it keeps popping back in my head and I still laugh. So simple, classic, and amazing! Let me know if you ever decide to let this go,
I wish I knew. I can't read the signature and I bought it so long ago I can't remember/locate the ebay listing. If anyone knows or would like to guess, I would love to hear your thoughts.
Amazing piece that shows off many of the signature elements of Kirby's brilliance. Congratulations!
How cool, I just bought the color guide to this great page!
I am so glad you got the sister page to your other one. I just love that last panel!!
Honestly, I can't think of a better adjective than "beautiful". Just one of those moments that stays with you. Congrats!
Just a beautiful piece! I love the way the mountain of water hangs there in that perfect moment before crashing down. Great stuff!!
So stupid, so brilliant.... I have tears in my eyes from laughing too hard. Somehow, this reminds me of what my wife said to me after we finished watching the movie "Hot Fuzz". "I will never get those two hours of my life back!!" These pages are not for everyone but... :)
Wow! That is just a perfect page, congrats!
At least now I know where it is... if the luster ever wears off on this page, take a look at my gallery and see if there is something you like better.
Congratulations on a really great page!! I actually had this page in my hand with cash outstretched to Mike the year he sold his Conqueror Worm pages. Then Mike took the page back and said, "Oops, this one isn't for sale" and slid it back into his binder. Agghhh!!!! I did end up with the page right before it so all wasn't lost, but I have often wondered what happened to this one afterwards. So... any good story to tell about this purchase? p.s. I think Neil is talking about me :)
Truly an amazing page. I have wondered for a decade where this gem was and hoped it would show up. Congrats!
Somehow I am not surprised that this ended up in your collection. Congratulations on a truly amazing piece!!
Just a gorgeous page! I remember being struck by this page when I first saw it... so glad it is in your collection!
