This is my favorite page in the entire first series. The somberness Ben put into Leo's expressions... Right?! Ben crushed it with this page. He was talking to me about the angle of splinter's face in the bottom panel and how it's a tricky angle, and I think he crushed it. Sad Mikey is heartbreaking. This moment shows all their feelings that led to the dark last ronin future, and marks the very last time they were all together alive. This page also has all the main characters from the flashbacks on one page (and even the same panel), nothing like it in the whole book. |

Escorza brothers are fine illustrators. When you see some of their pre Last Ronin work, it becomes more evident that they've elevated the story in ways other TMNT artists could not. I couldn't agree more. There are a lot of fantastic TMNT artists that I love, but I believe the Escorza brothers' style and tone was perfect for The Last Ronin and took it to a whole new level. |
