I was wondering who outbid me on ebay, well done! Glad to see this piece kept in the CAF family. 

Was the first 2000AD issue I ever picked up as a kid, I actually found it in a bonfire on halloween to make it even more eery.

Absolutely incredible to see this cover first hand, always stuck out to me (and the story itself) back when I bought it as a kid.

It's such a shame alright, I wonder due to the original art's complexity was it just not reproducing clearly with whatevering printing technique they were using for the cover?

Either way, terrible choice, the original art is absolutely incredible.

This is absolutely pricess! I remember reading this as a kid and not being impressed in the slightest. 

Is the scan itself the original photo that was taken / used for this panel?

Thanks for pointing that out Rufus! Still an amazing page and had me fooled for 15 years. 

Someone definitely tried to pass this off as a Henry Flint when they sold it to me, has a 'HF '99' inked on the bottom right. 

Bought it from 6421jamie on ebay, in '09 if anyone knows him...

Amazing! This is one of the pages the guy who was on the Antiques Roadshow Salsbury episode had. I tried to buy them from him but he only wanted to let them all go as one lot. 

John Hicklenton had actually given his dad the pages as a thank you gift, thats how he ended up with them all.

If you're ever interested in moving this along, do let me know - I actually meant to buy it off Dale on ebay years back. He had it listed for a while and when I finally went to buy it, it was sold hah. Typical!

I sold off my only Pete Doherty page a while ago (Title page from Justice One) so it was great to get another one back in the collection (and even more unforgivable that I had it misnamed! hah)

Oh wow! Congratulations! One of the best 2000AD covers of all time. 

Thanks for the closeup shots, I always wondered how the sign and the concrete were actually rendered in that painting as they look so realistic.

This is one of the greatest pieces I've ever seen on CAF. Literally have my face up to the monitor looking at all that detail. Could stare at it all day. Congratulations Mark! I don't think this one will ever be topped! :O

Everyone I've spoken to who has a piece of his art seems to have bought it from his dad at a market. Must have had an attic clear out! This was a long time ago mind you, so I'm sure he just didn't realize the future value of it all. I just hope a lot of it is still in safe hands. His pieces were being sold for bargain basement prices from what I've been told - I'm sure some folk bought pages on a whim without giving too much thought to what they were buying. That's why I was so shocked when a page of this quality turned up out of the blue. Fingers crossed I can come across some more...!

Picked it up on ebay a year or two ago. It's really a great piece alright! Always thought it looked like a giant playing card :)
