Looking at the color and how it matches purfectly to the color on the printed cover, and thinking about the printing processes used for the Baxter books back in the 1980s, I think this is actually THE painted color for the cover used for the "blueline" method. I think all you are missing is the acetate sheet in black and white overlay. Does the paint look/feel like wtercolor?

Given the Scottish bonnet and the eclectic clothing style, it sure looks like a piece of artwork intended for Iron Wolf, but the dragon in the background doesn't really fit into what Chaykin set up for the world of Galaktika...but who knows what he had planed for future chapters? One thing for sure about Chaykin, he always had a lot of surprises. In any case, great composition and real nice structure to the figures. Congratulations.

A wonderful page that is a great example of an excellent series. I loved this book, because of a fresh take on superheroes, but also because of Willingham's artwork. His drawing has always been very unique, and early on had a cool Michael Golden vibe that was very appealing. Great example of storytelling in the bottom 3 panels. I also really like how he spotted the black areas, creating strong compositions and solid figures.

Recently I bought and read Tom Sutton's reprint collection "Tom Sutton's Creepy Things" and fell in love with his imaginative artwork and wild storytelling. Before that, I was only familiar with Sutton through his fill-in Doctor Strange issues, and I never realized how prolific he was. This page reminds me of the mind bending layouts that Alex Nino did for DC horror books. Love all the attention to detail in the inking!

The artwork is great and it is wonderful to see Batman as drawn by Guice. Your research really contributed to making this piece stand out and I loved reading the back story of this artwork. I first encountered Guice's work on Megaton #1 back in 1981 and it was pretty clear that he was going to go on to became an awesome comic's creator. Congratulations!

This was my very first exposure to Keith Giffen's art and I LOVED IT. It was unique and graphic and totally different from anything else that Marvel was printing. Looking at it now, 40 years later, it is s till unique and powerful and has not dated at all. If I saw a splash page like that today, I would totally buy the book to see what the story is about. Great composition that shows Girren as the master storyteller that he is.

Nice recreation of a classic cover (and a rare example of Steve Ditko doing sword and sorcery). It looks like a very beautiful and faithful recreation of f the original, which was definitely done with color in mind (color would add more depth by making the shadows darker). It would be interesting to see another take on this cover, done as a straight-up black and white piece, maybe making the shadows solid black (thus making Stalker almost coming forward out of the darkness).

I just read the omnibus collection of Byrne's Generations and what a fun series it turned out to be! The story was fun and imaginative and the art was excellent. This was one of the pages that stood out ifor me n the first storyarc. The storytelling is solid and Byrne manages to draw A LOT of detail, without making it look busy. Love his take on Alfred. Great action pose, it really feels like Robin is flying through the air. Congrats.

Not only does he have a wonderful style that combines something very cartoony with something very realistic, but he also has a great sense of humor that adds life to everyone of his illustrations. He is also a natural storyteller and all of his sequential work has great flow. Congratulations on a great cover of the Dymanic Duo and a historic piece of comic book community in the Bay Area (miss Oakland WonderCons)!

Congratulations on a great addition to your collection. I remember when the portfolio came out and just how blown away I was by the cover. I plunked my $10 down and brought the portfolio home. I was shocked when I opened the envelope and discovered that the plates inside were done in a different style (less rendering, more contrast). At first I was very disappointed, but as time went on, and I kept looking at the art, I kept appreciating the individual plates more and more. Now, it is one of my favorite Michael Golden gems and this particular plate (along with The Ancient One) is my favorite piece in the portfolio. How big is the original art?

Ofcourse I respect the info given to you by Golden's rep, but something doesn't seem right to me. There are some very "Michael Golden" elements on this page that jump out at me (such as the composition of panel 2 and the rendering of faces in panel 2 and panel 3, as well as the writing on the top of the page that looks very much like the style of lettering that Golden uses to identify his other artwork). There are some faces and folds in the bottom panel that sort-of/kind-of match Golden's style as well...it might be that Rick M. matched Golden's style perfectly (but if he could do that, I am surprised he hasn't made a career out of it!), or it might be that he was working off Mr. Golden's loose layouts. Either way, it is a cool page!

This is just an awesome story and it is a perfect example of why Frank Robbins is considered to be one of the masters of the comic book medium! The storytelling is superb. There is never any confusion about what is going on in the story or the actions of the characters. But even though the storytelling is clear, there is real tension created by the page layouts and there is a rhythm that builds-up right up to the last page. The individual panels are wonderfully rendered with lots of historical submarine/sea warfare references, but none of the drawings ever appear to be cluttered. Characterˇ¦s faces and body language is very expressive and adds to the storytelling. I was also taken by the way Robbins rendered water. In just a few simple pen strokes, he was able to capture the constant movement perfectly. This is why Alex Toth looked up to Frank Robbins as one of his ˇ§comic strip art heroesˇ¨! I only wish the story was at least one page longer, so that Robbins could expand a bit o

The combination of Golden and Nebres is not something that would automatically come to mind, but it sure worked beautiful on this page. A beautiful collaboration between two talents. Congratulation!

Great Michael Golden page, with a nice shot of Ra's Al Ghul in the first panel. Shows nice storytelling and I really like how the silhouette is knocked out in the last panel. Also it shows Golden's ability of drawing neat looking machinery (including gas masks)which is going to come in real handy when he takes over Micronauts, one year later, in 1979. In case you wanted to add to the description, this is from DC Special Series #15 published in 1978. The panel arrangement and the compositions in every panel are perfectly matched to create a rhythm and a mood...and I just love the fact that in the main panel the glass (around Logan's fists) is cracked. Beautiful and powerful. Congratulations!
