I am a collector and comics fan. There is so much sophistication in comic art storytelling.
The Comic Art I love falls in several camps:
1) curvy, fluid, “sexy” and often lushly-inked styles such as DREW EDWARD JOHNSON, TERRY & RACHEL DODSON, STUART IMMONEN;
2) more cartoonlike or animated style-art such as MIKE WIERINGO, PASQUAL FERRY, RICK BURCHETT;
3) highly detailed, shadowy art like LEWIS LAROSA, DOUG BRAITHWAITE, JEROME OPEÑA;
4) Toth and Zaffino-inspired noir-ish art with heavy usage of spot blacks like JORDI BERNET, SEAN PHILLIPS and the late JOHN PAUL LEON;
5) grounded yet stylized "European"-flavored art with tight, clean, crisp linework and exacting renderings of architecture like RODOLFO DAMAGGIO;
6) art that judiciously employs obvious crosshatching and crisp, tight linework like CHRIS SPROUSE, PAT OLIFFE, and LEONARD KIRK;
7) and burly "classic" workmanlike art that is often suited for two-fisted adventure tales like EDUARDO BARRETO and JOHN BUSCEMA.
8) Finally, I love the classic pen-and-brush inkwork of old newspaper strip artists like STAN DRAKE, LEONARD STARR, DAN BARRY, and DAVID WRIGHT.
