Grail Alert!

I've wanted one Angus McBride's luminous history paintings in my collection for a while. A goal would be page from Osprey Publications, but those seem as rare as hen's teeth. But, thanks to the good folks at Squadron Signal, I have this lovely gouache panel, produced sometime between 1970-74 for Valiant Miniatures a 54mm white metal figure line produced by Squadron Rubin.

What fantastic detail on the chain mail and the weapons. You get a sense of the weight they carry around to fight using strength over speed.

Love this piece of historical illustration. When reading history books, a good illustration is often more illuminating than a photograph.
