DescriptionThis OA purchase is in so many respects a journey coming full circle, both the obtaining of the cover and what it represents to me personally.I was 8 years old when NTT 12 came out. As it so happened during that time one of the popular morning cartoons being rerun in the early 80s was 'The Mighty Hercules,' an old 60s cartoon. That got me interested/reading Greek Mythology at the school library because the cartoon was based on a real guy dontcha know (I was 8, Hercules could have existed) and I thought that was cool. The tie in with NTT 12 is that around that same time my Dad and I were at the grocery store after school and I had my allowance in my pocket, probably one of the first times I had gotten one for doing small chores around the house. So I surmised what I could get with the $2 in my pocket - my attention became fixated on a spinner rack near the front of the store with comics on it. Now there had been comics around the house, Archie and Bugs Bunny and the like, my cousin even had a few Spider-man books, not the Marvels but hard bound kids books. I had never really read a proper super hero comic, if I had I sincerely didn't remember it. So I walked up to the Spinner Rack and gave it a whirl and pop, there it was "The Clash of the Titans." Now I didn't know who the New Teen Titans were, had zero clue who Marv Wolfman or George Perez were either. But the Titans were Gods from Greek Mythology and having them in a comic book now that sounded cool, besides just from the cover you knew something bad a$$ was going on in that book. I asked my Dad if I could spend my money on a comic book, he smiled and said it was my money I could do what I wanted with it, so I bought 2 comics. I can't for the life of me remember what the other one was but I read NTT 12 a least 50 times that month, I was always carrying it around and it is the first comic book I ever bought. A few weeks later my Dad told me there was a store that sold only comic books just outside the neighborhood and I went there and bought more NTTs books and that was the beginning of me as a comic collector. To say that I am thrilled to own this cover is a colossal understatement of Herculean proportions :) Social/Sharing |

I am sooooooooooooo jealous right now. Awsome aquisition. Glad the cover means so much to you memory wise. The New Teen Titans by Wolfman / Perez was one comic that I had to get as soon as it hit the stands. Always loved this cover and still have the entire run of the series in my hands. Fond memories. I know this thing cost a pretty penny and am certain that it was worth it. Congrats, man. One lucky dude indeed.

Terrific art, but I love the story of why it has particular meaning for you even more. Everyone should have a story like that about at least one piece in their collection.

The art is great, obviously as it is Perez. The story makes it even better. Congrats on a great addition to the collection that is fuel for your fond memories of youth.

I really enjoy when collectors explain why a particular cover is important to them. Now this cover would be great on its own but with the story, I admire it ten times more. Congratulations on obtaining it.
