DescriptionIf I had any grail-like piece, for me, this would be up there. I really enjoyed Ryan Stegman’s work on Scarlet Spider – see the other pieces I have in my gallery from that book. His kinetic, fun style lends itself to this type of character, and actually reminds me of some of the great art in the ‘90’s Spider-Man books. Outside of the action specifically, I thought his layouts and storytelling were great in Scarlet Spider. You got the unique TX feel throughout and the people he drew out of costume were sharp and expressive. So I was bummed when I learned he’d be moving off of Scarlet Spider and on to Fantastic Four. I understood it, but again, thought his particular style fit Scarlet Spider very well. My discontent was short-lived, though, as I soon learned he’d be moving on to work on my favorite character – Spider-Man. Albeit a Spider-Man a bit different from the traditional, but still Spider-Man. I’ve really enjoyed Slott’s run since ASM #648 so am personally excited to see where he goes with the Spidey Ock storyline. Regardless if the initial reaction is positive or negative, if you’ve enjoyed the run thus far, you’ve got to give it a shot. Plus Stegman’s drawing part of it! Again, I’ve picked up a couple of Scarlet Spider pieces before and was on Paolo’s e-mail list. I just happened to be online working late when the e-mail came through that Superior Spider-Man 1 pages were available. I opened it up right then and there, spent 5 minutes looking, and sent an e-mail back with the request. There was already a page unavailable but the pg. 4 splash was still up for grabs – YES! If I had replied maybe even 5 minutes later I probably wouldn’t have been able to pick it up. Lucky I was online that late that night…coupled with some good fortune maybe. Either way I’m stoked to own this piece and share it on CAF. Great, energetic splash from the first issue of my favorite character’s new status quo done by one of my new favorite artists. Hope ya’ll enjoy. Thanks, Ryan and Paolo. UPDATE - see frame job in additional images! I framed it along with the published image and the cover to the comic signed by artist Stegman, writer Slott, and colorist Delgado! Social/Sharing |

Wow this page looks even better in b&w. Stegman's spider-man just leaps off the page. Congrats on this wonderful pickup!

Wow! thanks for introducing me to this artist. Once of the coolest interpretations of spidey in years. Guess I'll have to pick this book up now, at least the issues Stegman did.

Love Stegman's work, been tempted to pick up some of the 2099 artwork that's popped up. All the same, fantastic piece!

I also really dig Ryan's art and do think there's an element of him being under the radar. It'd be great if his stuff worked out in terms of future investment but right now I personally just really like it and will probably be picking up more!

I didn't read this series until after it was released, but it is a goodie. Fantastic page from this run, that I think, will hold up well and be remembered for a long time.

I actually just added a pic of the frame job I did for this piece in the additional images as well as a little commentary on it at the end of my description. I think you'll dig it :)
