Description

One neat thing about the Legion Academy is how there were always lots of characters in the background that we never really learned much about. Oftentimes we never even learned their names! Many Legion fans have speculated on the names, powers and histories of these characters, including myself. These characters are filled with potential and are just another argument for a Legion Academy series. Anyway, I gave Joel Carroll a couple specific characters for this Legion Squad, and asked him to pick a few of the background students to fill out the piece.

This squad of Legion Academy students consists of some big unnamed bearded guy, a floating communication device that was used by aliens not accustomed to our climate, Mentalla, Westerner, Flotsam & Jetsam, and Mandalla. I love that Joel picked Flotsam and Jetsam, as they were some of my favorite background characters. And also the big bearded guy! The floating robot-looking thing was originally used by Tellus until he got a helmet to help him breathe out of water. It continued to appear after Tellus joined the Legion so I assume other aliens kept using it at the Academy. Anyway, Joel made all of these characters look cool as can be. Mentalla looks dignified, Westerner looks tough, and Mandalla looks aloof. And Flotsam and Jetsam look almost creepy! As always, thanks, Joel!

I like to call him Olympian like the Global Guardian character, perhaps he could be a descendant of him or related to the Wonder Woman universe.

Don't call it Box! It could be called something has Cam (camera), Rec (recording device) or Com (comunication).
