Description

We're not just featuring heroes in this series of Legion commissions, but also the dastardly villains of the future. And who else to kick off this exploration into the Legion of Super-Heroes' rogues gallery than the Legion of Super-Villains? The LoSV has expanded over the years to include almost every single enemy of the LoSH, but for this commission we chose to feature only some of the oldest members. Saturn Queen, Lightning Lord and Cosmic King are sort of the counterparts to the LoSH founders Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy. Lightning Lord is my favorite of the bunch, and the one with the most interesting character developments over the years. Nemesis Kid is a jerkface traitor and I hate him. So little is known about Beauty Blaze that I really don't know what to think of her. Echo is also a mystery, but he was shown in a possible future as having joined the LoSH, so there's got to be something interesting going on with him. If you account for the entire team, the LoSV is by far the Legion's greatest threat, and these characters are just a few of the reasons why.

From left to right, here we have Nemesis Kid, Beauty Blaze, Saturn Queen, Lightning Lord, Echo, and Cosmic King. Yet again let me point out that Joel comes up with really cool-looking structures to put these squads on! Such cool designs! Joel makes me hate Nemesis Kid even more here with that cocky smirk of his, which is appropriate. I love the way he drew Cosmic King's puffy sleeves and Saturn Queen's skirt. And it's always cool to see powers being displayed like with Beauty Blaze and Lightning Lord. Another excellent commission from Joel!
