DescriptionGot this gem in the mail five days ago, and I am SO excited to be the caretaker for this piece for as long as that may be.I got it from a fellow rambunctious Ramos fan, and I want to sincerely thank him for entrusting me with it. This cover marks the very beginning of Humberto's first run on Amazing Spider-Man, which lasted until the landmark "death" issue #700. Two of my very first pieces of original art were two Ramos pages from his second ASM issue (#649), featuring Spidey, Black Cat and Hobgoblin. I still treasure them to this day. After drawing eleven issues of Superior Spider-Man, Humberto was the man who brought a newly alive Peter Parker back to his flagship title, with the first six issues of ASM vol 3. Mr. Ramos has continued to drop in and out of the Web Head's life with such stories as "Hunted," "Heist" (with Black Cat) and "Trivial Pursuit" (one of my faves), as well as contributing to each one of Spidey's anniversary issues. It must be so exciting and daunting as a Marvel artist to draw their first ASM cover. I love the format that Humberto chose, with a web-swinging Spidey in the middle, surrounded by a plethora of other cast members, including a new one named Max Modell plus Avengers Cap and Wolverine, and even Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four. The original art even includes three bonus characters that were left off of the colorized version -- Iron Man, Norah Winters and Spider Woman. I've gone on too long. In my opinion, this is Humberto's greatest ASM cover. It has always been my favorite and its fitting that it is in the ultimate Humberto Ramos collection! I can say without a doubt that your collection of his work is without equal with or without this cover. But this cover is the perfect capper to the mountain of Ramos art that you've amassed over the years. I'm so happy that I could share the ride with you for as long as I did. Knowing that you would be taking care of it makes it bearable for me to let it go. For many years, this was my Ramos art grail. Now it can be yours. Huge congrats my friend!

Wow, talk about THE Ramos cover to get - and this is it. I was blown away by Ramos when I saw this in print - and you have an amazing piece to add to your collection. Congratulations.

Ramos was a bold choice at the time, but definitely the right one because of the hectic release schedule and leading to more interesting guest artist issues. Numerous talents followed in similar artistic themes and fit in with the look. Ramos made this a milestone issue with a take on the ASM #100 cover.

Wow, I honestly had no idea that you had such a large Ramos Spidey collection. I guess it only makes sense that you should have his very first ASM cover too. Looks like this piece has found the perfect home. Congrats and enjoy!

Wonderful cover - also used as the cover for the 2011 Premiere Edition Hardcover reprinting ASM 648-651.

Love the compostion with all the character faces in the background. The overall image is very strong and un-amibiguous which is sometimes a difficulty I have with his work. Congrats on an Amazing (spectacular?) Pick up!!

Any time you can acquire a cover by an artist whose work you love and from a long run the artist is associated with, it's a pretty big deal. But being able to acquire the very 1st example by that artist on that run is infinately more special!

KRAKA-THOOM! That's the sound of this cover hitting your collection. Ramos' first ASM cover. How do you find all this cool stuff, Paul? I love this composition of figures important to Spidey and his development. It's got that Ramos personal punch he brings to all his art. All the different expressions and "feels" bring a lot to the cover. Excellent find. Congrats!

Hahaha, yeah I can't blame you at all, especially since I'll sometimes get a Ramos cover back into my collection after a period of not owning it. This is THE perfect example of Ramos Spidey and so befitting to be in your collection Paul - heary congratulations! The original art is far more impressive than the published cover (which is no small feat as the cover is gorgeous).

Man, this is epic. In terms of the piece itself and its importance. I had followed Ramos's work on Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man (the Goblin arc blew me away) but this is the image that marks the moment Ramos went next leve, starting his memorable run on ASM! BIG TIME, indeed, Paul. Wow. HUGE sincere congrats, bud!
