DescriptionCrom and Mitra! I had been searching high and low, from the Black Coast to the Hyrkanian steppes, for this Gil Kane/John Romita Red Sonja masterpiece for almost as long as I have been collecting original art. Why? Because Marvel Feature v. 2 #1 was one of the original two comics (along with Uncanny X-Men #172) that I borrowed from a neighborhood friend back in 1983 that turned me into a lifelong comics fan - so, in addition to being the fantastic cover to Red Sonja's first solo outing, it doesn't get much more nostalgic than this for me!In late 2018, I appealed to the Felix Comic Art podcast listenership for any information regarding the whereabouts of both this and the Defenders #125 cover (I'm still looking for the latter), which have long been at the top of my Want List. Well, I don't know if the former owner of this cover heard me or not, but, it fortuitously turned up at auction this year and I am thrilled to have won it! (special thanks go out to a good friend for his part in helping me secure this one) I feel very fortunate to be able to add another personally significant, nostalgic piece to my collection. For me, there are very few things in this hobby more memorable than this issue and its spectacular cover image of everyone's favorite fighting Hyrkanian! I know that I am a very lucky guy... What a find! I nearly had a stroke the day I saw this comic hit the rack. My uncle actually bought it and as soon as I could get my hands on it I read it greedily taking in the sexy warrior woman with great pleasure.Congrats

Congrats on you personal grail. There are about 7-8 comics I bought my 1st month as a comic reader that I would love to own the covers. I was lucky to get the JLA #227 which was one of them. Hope you get that Defenders cover soon!

In your intro you rightly focus on the emotional connection you have with this cover. But artistically it has to be one of the most accomplished by Kane, supported by usual classy, Romita inks. It must feel great to have a piece of art that scores so high on all fronts. Congratulations!

While some may debate, for me Gil Kane is one of the best if not THE best Marvel cover artists ever; and even among his incredible body of work, this stands out as a true gem. Fierce depiction of Sonja in action! The nostalgic connection makes it an incredible acquisition—huge congrats!

Wow! A cover to one of the first 2 comics you read and Red Sonja’s first solo story AND an oustanding illustration by 2 all time greats?! Yeah, safe to say you’re lucky here ;) Seriously, though, sincere congrats on true gem!
