Description

This new hybrid is special, not only because I love both David Lynch and his "Eraserhead" movie and the Disney character of Fethry Duck, but it is also because the proposal of using both the director and the related movie, and the Disney artist/character came from me, and Alberto found it could work. And I guess it did, marvelously.

I was discussing this with Alberto, in person, and he popped out a few quick sketches (see additional images), all from memory of the movie. You can already see the spark; Fethry's hair could work to match one of the movie's protagonists; it was something that had to be done.

Eraserhead (1977) is Lynch's first feature-length film, a body horror masterpiece shot in black and white.
Just to quickly summarize the plot (ain't easy with this one), the protagonist, Henry Spencer, a hapless factory worker, tries to survive his industrial environment, his angry girlfriend, and the unbearable screams of his newly born mutant child.
There's no conventional logic and storytelling, and both the nightmarish atmosphere and compellingly disturbing visuals are amazingly fascinating (well, they are for me).

Alberto captured all these key elements of the movie and mixed them with Disney. And the result, IMHO, is simply stunning. Fethry is a perfect Henry Spencer. The atmosphere is alienating, surreal. Both the pencils (before the inking phase) and the inks are extremely powerful. Man, you can only love Alberto.

Also included, in the additional images, is a scan of the pencils before inking and a magnificent color version (always by Lavoradori).

I love David Lynch movies. This tribute, really unusual but very nice, is fantastic!
