Description

This new hybrid is a tribute to the director Sergio Leone and one of the fathers of Mickey Mouse, Ub Iwerks.

Sergio Leone doesn't need any introduction; he directed movies that still are (and will be) loved and considered absolute masterpieces. The one Alberto chose for this illustration, "Giù la testa" ("Duck, You Sucker!"), It is not as famous as Leone's Dollars Trilogy or Once Upon a Time in America, but a damn fine piece of Art and is considered by many one of the director's most overlooked films.
The movie is about an I.R.A. explosives expert on the run in Mexico in 1913, meeting an amoral Mexican bandit and then drawn together into the Mexican revolution.

Here's Pete (also a Disney/Iwerks creation) as Juan Miranda, the Mexican bandit, with the I.R.A. guy in the background, just near his bike. A beautiful composition, masterfully inked. I love Alberto's rendition of Pete (not sure he has drawn him before, almost all of his Disney stories are with ducks), and I find the vulture simply amazing.
