DescriptionI loved the artistic team of Wieringo and Kesel on the FF title. Wieringo's pencils were on the cartoony side, but I just found the art really visually pleasing and kind of comforting. This issue is Part One of a favorite FF story of mine, called "Hereafter." When the Thing is possessed by Doctor Doom, Mister Fantastic has no choice but to use a weapon designed to kill his best friend in order to stop Doom's rampage. With a large gaping wound in his chest, the Thing dies. But Reed won't rest until he finds a way to get Ben back. He rebuilds the device that Doctor Doom invented to try and contact the afterlife. Then he steals Ben's body from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and discovers a slight spark of life in Ben's brain. Reed then tells Sue and Johnny that he plans on using the afterlife device to travel to Heaven and recover Ben's soul. It's another big and exciting adventure into the Unknown for Marvel's First Family! Social/Sharing |

Interesting that you should post a Ringo piece right after you post a Scherberger. As Mike is probably one of the few artists who have that same type of dynamic yet playful style of drawing as Patrick does. I still have hopes of getting one of Mike's Spidey covers someday. Congrats on another exciting and fun piece.

It figures that in what was a great run of covers by Wieringo, YOU would have the one with the typically iconic team shot on it! Great stuff.

All-time run, and one of the best covers. Only a couple with the whole team. I've been on the hunt for one of these forever - major, major congrats!

Oh, yeah! This is perfect iconic posing by Wieringo, and I love these Kesel inks. Especially how he inked Johnny. Awesome stuff, as per usual. Big congrats!

I'm right there with you, Ed - I thought the same thing right when I saw this piece while simultaneously adoring it! "Comforting" is a great way to describe Wieringo's work on this run, Paul. And FUN! His cartoony animated look and GREAT storytelling was a perfect match for Marvel's first family. I'm still on the hunt for mine! Congrats!

Another stunning addition to the Paul Pappas Comic Art Museum! Wonderful team cover by an artist gone way too soon. Congrats on yet another great acquisition!

Absolutely epic, Paul! I had long suspected it, but I believe I came to the realization during the Waid/Wieringo run that, while I love many titles and teams, I am the happiest with mainstream comics when the FF is firing on all cylinders. Everything else just falls into place and “seems right” when the First Family is well-tended. :) Another incredible and gorgeous addition to your gallery - wonderful!

Wow Jason, I couldn't have said it any better. The world just seems brighter when the FF is, as you say, firing on all cylinders. And the stories during the Waid/Wieringo run always made the Fantastic Four my first pull-list read-- even ahead of Amazing Spider-Man!
