DescriptionI have shared some stuff that I recently picked up and quietly tucked some other stuff away. Here is where I show my age... Picked up a page a few months ago from GI Joe 20 which was one of the first comic books I ever read let alone one of the first GI Joe books I ever read. That page featured Clutch in a solo story who was the first figure I ever received. Tonight there were a slew of vintage Joe pages up for auction that were ending on eBay tonight. I bet on all of them and would have taken any and all of them if I could. I wound up winning Page 16 from issue 38 featuring the introduction of Recondo and features Stalker. Recondo was the second Joe I ever received and the first I ever picked out. Stalker was the third. Woo hoo. 1984 was a magical year for toys. It was the second to last year of Star Wars and Jedi was still being pushed while the GI Joe universe was rocketing to eclipse all other lines and the Joe comic book was one of the most popular comic books around. Nice page. Mr. Whigham did some excellent work on the G.I. Joe book. G.I. Joe was probably my favorite read for a time in the mid 80s, so it's always cool to see artwork posted from that timeframe.

This page also came up for sale I think about a year ago. I own a few earlier pages and this is one of my favorite issues. I wish it wasn't yellowing so much or I would have bid. It would interesting if you could peel off the bottom panel to see what the original artwork looked like.

I do not see much GI Joe art come up for sale and the few pieces I see have asking prices of double from what they normally trade for at auction. The eBay auction is public so I paid the $450 for the page with the belief that if a certain dealer got their hands on it I would be forced to pay $800-900 if I changed my mind in the future. I only have two pages from the Marvel series but am always on the lookout for more, especially if it features characters who I had as a kid.

This is a cool page from back in the day. I remember seeing this one when it came up for auction.
