Description--- Donald Duck's 90th anniversary (1934-2024) ---I had this idea to have an inked version of some of my favorite Disney original artwork I own that is only penciled, and the all-time best Disney inker, Alessandro Zemolin of course, was available to do it! This could happen only without touching the original pencil piece, so it was either lightboxing or having the piece printed from a high-resolution scan in cyan. One of the pieces I love the most In my collection is the very first one Alberto Lavoradori did for me (and so many others then followed), the one about the famous (and also my all-time favorite among Donald Duck's stories) Barks' "Lost in the Andes". Alberto has developed a peculiar and unique style, but at the very beginning he did some work with Zemolin, and I was curious to see them together again. In this case, Sandro decided to go with the lightbox and then proceeded with inking without trying to mimic Alberto's inking style but using his own "voice"... because even when he inks Cavazzano, Intini, or Mastantuono, you can see subtle differences, each pencil work and related artist do need a different inking approach and style. And I believe here Sandro was magnificent... the "soul" of the piece is Lavoradori's but he added his magic and the final result is outstanding! IMHO it's a successful blend of Alberto's "edginess" and Zemolin's consolidated "rounded" Disney ink style... it's a contrast that I believe works. Huge thanks to Sandro!
