DescriptionFor the month of November, I’ll be featuring some indigenous heroes, starting with Marshal BraveStarr! Nice animated segue from last week’s Real Ghostbusters post. Both fun shows of my childhood.I don’t really collect cels but the few I have are uber nostalgic. Was happy to pick this one up from fellow collector and fellow Native American comic OA fan, Danny Hoskins, as it has both BraveStarr and his mentor and father figure, the Shaman (we never get his actual name). And if I do get cels, I try to also get the actual pencil line production art, too, which I was able to do for both figures here (see additional images). Did have some head correction on both :) This was the last animated series produced by Filmation, and it was a good series, but what I remember most are the images. Native characters, with one headlining no less, lotsa colors, and some killer designs mixing the western and sci-fi/space genres. My intro to the “space western” :) Reminds me, if you haven't seen Eric Canete's awesome take in my gallery, click here: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1772609). Lastly, the show also had a great intro :) Thanks, Danny! Social/Sharing |

This is something new to me too, but I really dig it! The colors are so vibrant, and I really like the clothing and background buildings. Definitely a fitting piece for your collection, and how cool that you got the pencil line production art as well!

Completely unknown to me, so I wonder if it was even televised up this way. Regardless, I love that you take pride in your indigenous roots and have this theme going on in your collection. Oh, and Danny has been watching some of my YouTube content recently and has been nice enough to leave me feedback. Good dude!

It was animation, I know
And I might have bought it
Right then, as cel art
Scheimer gave a chance
BraveStarr is the man
Tex Hex might have gone on away
Empty-hearted
It was from Filmation, I know
Afterschool alone with the Shaman I love
Then it touched your fandom, next moment
I miss you
Animation turned to love

I never knew this was the curtain call for Filmation. Having the pencils and background with the cel gives you a complete - and super cool - collectible to enjoy.
