DescriptionI'd enjoyed putting together the "last issue spectacular" covers that Mitch did for me so much that I couldn't stop from thinking about expanding out that 80's Crusaders universe. This, though, is a flash-back to the original 60's version of the comic :)The Cosmic Destroyer never actually appeared in the series. Only a cover to the series' German reprints, Star-Team #5. Really, how could I pass up a chance to drop a huge slab of Kirby into the middle of the Crusaders' universe :) The 60's series ended with issue #7 but I pushed it one more with this. A wonderful 60's romp from Dann Phillips based on Tom Grummett's Challengers of the Fantastic cover. Great pose on the Fly here and I love the sense of Dan McDaid in the Comet's pose. And I'll say one thing - having lettered this one up myself, folks like Russell Payne, Chris Ivy and all the other letters out there are worth their weight in gold. Original size 11x17 ----------------------- In This Issue ... The Crusaders' first full length adventure! Arriving out of the darkness of space comes the Cosmic Destroyer! Claiming to be the one who shattered the fifth planet and creating the asteroid belt, the Destroyer has returned to do the same to the Earth itself! So great is the Destroyer's power that the Mighty Crusaders (Black Hood, the Comet, the Fly, Fly-Girl and the Shield) must call upon fellow heroes the Web, Pow-Girl, Steel Sterling and Mister Justice as well as their new ally the Jaguar to combat this epic menace. What are the origins of this colossal galactic conqueror? Does he truly come from beyond the edges of the known universe as he claims? Are his connections to the Comet's adoptive world Altrox true? Can even this great assemblage of heroes defeat a villain who's heart beats with the power of a Black Star Nova? And, could it be true?? Could this be the last issue of the Mighty Crusaders?? This Issue's Cover ... The Mighty Crusaders (Black Hood, the Comet, the Fly, Fly-Girl and the Shield) are dwarfed by the hand of the Cosmic Destroyer. Social/Sharing |

Nice; but it should be "Kevin Moorhead - Letterer" shouldn't it?
