DescriptionThe idea of these Crusaders covers was, at first, to continue having fun playing within the Crusaders universe itself. Then it became enjoying poking around the corners of Archie's heroic universe to see what was there. Now, as this "phase" of the Crusaders project comes to a close I thought about ending it as BIG as I could. Especially as I knew that I couldn't keep 3 cover series going at one time. And so I went with the ultimate biggest! A crossover between the greats - the Justice League of America, the Avengers and the Mighty Crusaders! Really, how could I have ~not~ done this and still be me?Alex's Perezian influences made him perfect for this series of covers. This many characters needs someone with that kinda touch. And I was glad that Chris would be lettering these as I knew he could balance all the needed cover elements. If you enjoy these then know that all credit needs to go to these guys. The arrangement is based on the classic Perez JLA covers and the center image from Adam Gorham's Dead Drop series. Cross time capers mean Kang and the Lord of Time. That was easy. But Archie never had anyone like that. Luckily, I'd already revised one of their 60's villains, the Gladiator, into that kind of character. Then it was a case of just enjoying picking random heroes and heroines for a cool looking cover. All three of our villains look great here (especial the Lord of Time and Ashur Khan-the Gladiator) as do the faces on Hawkwoman, Firestorm and the Crusaders. Extra happy with this one :) And then there was color! Rob Shalda got in touch saying that he had to color this. I had no choice but to let him ;) Wonder Woman, Comet and Fly-Girl especially stand out. Rob gets better and better with each commission. As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :) Original size 11x17 ------- In This Issue ... It's a pleasant sunny day. The kind of day anyone, superhero or otherwise, would want to spend at the beach, putting on an epic bbq or just gathering with friends. But when time/space itself is ripped apart it's time to suit up and save all reality! When three villainous time travels, Ashur Khan the Gladiator, Kang and Conqueror and Lord of Time, begin ravaging the worlds it's time to assemble the greatest, the mightiest heroes of all time! This Issue's Cover ... The Greatest Heroes of All the Universes: Superman, Red Tornado, Hawkwoman, Firestorm and Wonder Woman! Comet, Fly-Girl, the Shield, Black Hood and Jaguar!
