DescriptionStanding there next to the spinner rack to witness Barry Windsor-Smith grow as an artist from the time of Conan #1 through Conan #24 and "Red Nails" was one of the most thrilling rides I've enjoyed during my comic reading years. Conan #1 showed the promise of an exciting, involved, adventuresome artist. By Conan #16, BWS had had developed a mature style fulfilling that early promise. By Conan #24, he surpassed all expectations. And then with "Red Nails" he surpassed expectations all over again. I've probably bought every comic, poster, and portfolio that Barry drew in the years since, and always look forward to the next work on the horizon from BWS. Absolutely beautiful. One of the best story / art adaptations ever. This was when BWS started inking his own work and showcased his talent. Cheers! Nelson.

Beautiful! This is possibly my favorite of Barry's Conan covers, bringing his then recent Pre-Raphaelite influences to the composition.

In my opinion, this is one of the finest pieces of OA on CAF. I can't think of another BWS cover, or a cover by any other artist, that I would rather own that this one. Must be even better in person!!

I know I comment in 2012 but, hey it has been 13 years, so I can comment again that this is one of the besat covers of all time. It is certainly in my top 5 if not my top 3.
