DescriptionAnother Jade Giant June post today, with ol’ Greenskin taking on 2 other Marvel powerhouses in Thor and the Thing! This is the from the miniseries that brought the Marvel heroes back to the main MU universe after Heroes Reborn. Quick aside – was definitely glad to see those heroes back and by and large those creative teams killed it. Am a huge fan of Waid with Garney then Kubert on Cap as well as Busiek/Chen on Iron Man. OK – back to the art. A sweet battle splash! Thor and Ben having a rough time but they’re determined guys. I like how big Hulk and Thing’s hands are, and overall Art Thibert provides a crisp ink assist to Larroca. What’s funny too is that you’ll see Thor is wearing the Heroes Return version of his costume. Not sure if the story changed after Larroca drew it or he just missed that it was supposed to be Thor’s original costume. But the published image includes the original costume. He ended up drawing a patch which was affixed to the back of the art board – check out the additional images. Always cool to have art exhibit part of the production process that way. And this is my first page with the “it’s clobberin’ time!” line – gotta have one of those :) One more add to go for Jade Giant June – stay tuned! Social/Sharing |

You are showing some good artistic taste lately with these Hulk posts - well done! And now it is time to stop - I think you have filled your Hulk quota ;)
Love the OG Heroes Reborn stuff, especially the visuals and this is a great example

"Quota?! Hulk SMASH quota!" Appreciate the kudos on my taste, Dave - ZERO bias on your part I'm sure, considering the subject matter ;) Thanks, man, and all, for the comments!

such a great T streak until the word 'proportions' maybe 'titillation' or perhaps "Tom-foolery" or.. or.. Troportions! Yeah its not a word, but damn it - we need a T word here!!

Best page from the issue. Just what we wanted and expected in their return, new storylines were set up and classic rivalries renewed! It looks like Hulk is back at it again! Larroca and Thibert deliver this brawny brawl to set the tone going forward!

Love Salvador Larroca's big, bold style, and those Thibert inks totally rock. Really fun having that original Thor costume patch, plus the Thing's iconic battle cry. Really amazing action splash, congrats!!

Ha! What's funny is I didn't see Rubin's comment till after I typed mine. Great minds...
No, what's really funny is that my name only has 5 letters in it with an accent above one of those letters and none of the 5 letters is an i, yet somehow you can't manage to get it right! From now on until you get it right consistently, you will henceforth be referred to as Jaymes Seagull.

Such a powerful splash. You can feel the raw power and intensity in this one. Another great addition K

The Thing looks fantastic.
For all its faults (I mean, how many muscles could Salva invent on the Hulk's back, here?), I actually prefered his (90s Image like) art back when (on Ghost Rider, this mini,X-Men or FF) to the cold digital realistic style he has embraced for years now.

I really, really like the Thing on this page! Just the right attitude for a fight like this. And you can tell it really is clobberin time! Huge congrats!

BOOM! Yowza, K! There it is; the return of everything to normal in the Marcel Universe after a year of being Reborn... I really enjoyed the Iron Man and Fantastic Four 'Heroes Reborn' books a lot (with their twists on the stories and mythologies we all knew so well - very much like a pre-'Ultimate' "Ultimate" line...), and although I was kind of bummed when things (rather hastily) wound down, the potential of the books on the horizon (notably the Busiek/Chen 'Iron Man' run, but ESPECIALLY the Busiek/Perez 'Avengers' run!) had me racing to the store. And things explode right out of the gate here (literally!) on your beautiful new splash! I really enjoyed Larroca's take on Ben (a neat riff building on what Jim Lee had just done in the 'Reborn' books, although Salvador would settle into a style that was more his own in his run on the FF with Chris Claremont) and the fact that the intensity of this throwdown is causing rocks to chip off of Ben here really makes me happy. Great stuff, K! What a grab! Congrats on propelling Jade June forwards with such panache!

At face value the heroes going back to Marvel from the Image guys was a tough act to follow. But Marvel hit a homer with the new creative team choices. The Busiek/Chen Iron Man run is tops for me as far as runs on that character, as is Waid/Kubert on Cap - I look back on all of it fondly! And spreaking of Larroca, he followed up Alan Davis's first few issues on FF! And I agree with your assessment of Ben here. Though this is a Jade Giant June entry and the draw is all 3 guys in the same splash, if I had to pick one character that stood out most to me here, it's Ben. Thanks, Jason!

You had me at clobber. Everyone needs a little Clobberin' Time. Hulk vs Thing (and Thor)! Alliteration battles! This post has it all, Kahlil. I like this Hulk roll you're on. You're smashing it! :) Congrats!

Whoa, what a splash! Finally a "fair" fight I guess. Don't think I read this book but I'm interested for sure. Thanks for sharing Kahlil! Who knew you were hiding all this incredible Hulk art hah!

Ha ha, love that from a big Hulk lover such as yourself, T - "finally a fair fight" :) It's interesting. I've had the Raney piece I just added for a while, but the other 2 posts, and my last upcoming add for June, are all recent pick ups. Wasn't necessarily looking for Hulk art, but found some sweet examples by some great artists all around the same time. Definitely glad you like, man, and I really think you'll dig my last add later this month!

Wha? I just seen the Hulk earlier today and he was bald fighting a cyborg bear now he has a full head of hair? Of course, the Professor Peter Peckinpah all purpose anti-personnel Peckinpah pocket pistol under the toupee trick. Thor and Thing don't know what they are in for.
