You know, Devilman is one of my all-time favorite manga reads... it's a powerful story, perfectly balanced, expressive and shocking.

I'm not a fan of his creator's, Go Nagai, drawing skills, but here he managed to channel an incredible energy and expressiveness, something I didn't find in any of his other works. Anyway, Devilman transcended the original manga and later inspired many other works and adaptations, as well as a lot of different artists.

I admit I wasn't sure what to expect from Alberto on this subject, that has been part of a sort of demonic trilogy that includes the Saint of Killers and Jack Kirby's The Demon, but, as always, I trust him 110% when he's so enthusiastic about doing something.

And he delivered.

The illustration is dynamic, powerful, expressive and "dirty", and for this, it really reminds me of Nagai's original artwork even though drawn in a completely different style. Alberto's unique style.

Just love it.

I'm really impressed by the way Lavoradori always captures essence and mood of the most disparate subjects. And yes, the pencils are fantastic!
