Description"Bat-Murderer!"Well…not quite. As we all know, best not to confuse what you see on the cover with the actual story inside when it comes to comic books. Yes, that’s Talia al Ghul, Batman’s love interest. And yes, that’s Batman shooting her. Which he does…but safe to say the cover may not be the cleanest visual representation of the story. Anyway, won’t completely ruin the story for those who have not read it (or, want to go back and enjoy re-reading it), but it’s a search for a new criminal to Gotham (Scrag Donovan, first appearance alert) that underlies the story in this issue. Long story short, in addition to shooting his girlfriend and being accused of murder, Batman does eventually get his man. I also wanted to make a quick comic art collecting community public service announcement: if Steve Morger ever joins you for dinner with an art portfolio in tow, you should plan on it being a much more expensive dinner than you planned on. In all serious, big thanks to Steve for reconnecting me with a piece of my past. Social/Sharing |

Great to see it here. It was nice to see it in person too. I can't think of a better Aparo Batman piece to own.

You got the better of the two Morger-Aparo Batman covers. But you know that. I hope dinner was tasty.

Love those 100-page DC books with the square binding, especially the covers. I specifically remember this one and still have it. It dawned on me how many covers there are out there showing Batman aiming or firing a gun at someone. Batman plugging Talia Al Ghul in the back? Batman's a jerk!

The rumor on the street is that Batman was always a tough guy to be in a relationship with...this just confirms it.

Artist merits aside, I'm getting a proto-Killing Joke vibe? Dark, I know, but ...?

Chris, one of my favorite covers on CAF. An astounding Aparo masterpiece. I remember many years ago when Steve posted this gem as his cover for "best of" competition, and I was utterly stunned and floored. I listed it as my top choice of course, and as it was then, it still is now. Bravo.
