My favorite Betty and Veronica Pin-ups by Dan Decarlo. These pieces were in another collectors gallery for years and I had left comments some 5 years apart. I never expected this art to find its way into my collection but it did and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Robert!

Dan DeCarlo is my favorite Archie artist and he is who I think of when I think of Archie art after Bob Montana. DeCarlo drew the best girls, period! He was well known for his pin-up and risque art he did and for him to bring those sensibilities and style to the Archie roster was welcomed. Of course he had to tone down things and we can see that here on the Betty piece. There was some editing done to get this piece comic code ready. You can see under the white out lines for Betty's buttock, breasts and bikini lines. The previous owner recreated what he thought the original art looked like and with his permission, that piece is shown in the additional imaged gallery.

On the back of the Ronnie pin-up is a prelim by DeCarlo. A little peek into the workings of a master comic artist.

The Betty and Veronica stats were missing so what you see is my amateur replacement stats until I can get something professional done with them.

This art was created in 1961 and is larger size. It saw publication in the 1964 Archie Giant #26 Betty and Veronica Spectacular. I suspect it might have seen publishing before that.

Very nice Jeff. I remember when these first went up on CAF and admired them all these years too. Who's the better B+V artist: Montana or DeCarlo is a very tough call; I probably change my mind twice daily!

Those are beautiful pin-ups Jeff. I remember seeing them in someone else's gallery. Decarlo did the best Betty and Veronica and these are fantastic examples. Congrats!
