Description

Walt Simonson's Thor run has always been one of my all-time favorites. I can still remember when my dad drove me all around in the cold Colorado winter in search of a copy of Thor #339 (the third issue of the historic run, where Odin has Stormbreaker created for Beta Ray Bill), and finally finding one remaining copy at a 7-11 (the next issue was already on the stands at the time). Simonson's run on Thor brings back a lot of great memories of that time for me, both in life as well as in comics.

Anyway, given the lack of availability of art from Thor #339 and most of Simonson's other best work on the run, I was very pleased to meet and speak with Walt and Louise for the first time at the IDW-sponsored dinner at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, and to receive this commission of my favorite Simonson creation, Beta Ray Bill.

Nice story about driving around with dad to look for a specific issue. My favorite art carries similar memories and emotions. Congrats!
